It’s true, when you have a brand new baby you don’t think much about what you look like. You’re just trying to survive. It’s still sinking in that this little baby needs you to survive so that they can survive. That’s heavy duty stuff. So, while you’re not much in the mindset of what’s currently in style, it’s a total myth that moms never care. We make jokes about living in yoga pants and never showering, but the truth is that we still want something stylish to wear that’s functional for our new role – like a great nursing top or dress.

I got pregnant unexpectedly at the age of 21. I was working as a nurse aide in the hospital when I discovered I was pregnant. The hospital actually “let me go” since I couldn’t “meet the job description.” Essentially I had a note from my OB saying I shouldn’t lift over 50lbs. My job involved lifting and transferring patients all day. I was given the opportunity to apply internally for another position within the system. I ended up working as a clinical assistant in the NICU. What an eye opener to an entirely different world. I loved my job there. It gave me the chance to learn the true reality of motherhood in a different light along with breastfeeding. [Read more…]
There’s No Such Thing As a “Former” Breastfeeder
I see this a lot. A mom finishes breastfeeding and then she posts on our wall or in a breastfeeding support group that she is leaving because she no longer belongs.
NO.
That is not true. Actually if you are totally done breastfeeding then you are the expert! You have so much valuable information to pass on to others. You have done it from beginning to end! No matter what happened during your journey you are sitting on some seriously helpful information for another mom. Please stay and connect with other moms. Pick your favorite breastfeeding group and stay! Be the mom that’s been there through it all.
