  1. What is your background?

Author Bio:

Rachel Rainbolt is an insightful, nurturing, genuine, and badass parenting sage who empowers gentle parents to confidently connect with their adorably exasperating little ones through her books, classes, and coaching.

She is a homeschooling and attachment parenting mother of three with nearly two decades of experience working with young children and parents, has a master’s degree in family therapy, is a featured parenting expert and media advocate on television and radio, published author of parenting books, articles, and curricula, and a certified parent educator with her company Sage Parenting.

  1. What inspired you to write this book?

I spent my first breastfeeding year feeling alone, lost, and conflicted. I was aware of the benefits and committed to breastfeeding my baby but confused as to how we fit into the world as a breastfeeding pair.

My work supporting mamas with breastfeeding little ones collided with my personal breastfeeding journey as I began to advocate in the media and through my Sage Parenting Blog to create the mama-baby friendly culture required to support women in meeting their breastfeeding goals.
I wanted parents to know how you can breastfeed on cue, full term, at night, and in public like a rock star.

  1. Who is this book written for?

This book was written for all the mamas stranded on breastfeeding island in our “breasts are shameful” (unless being used as a sex object to sell a product) culture. So many misconceptions to set straight, so many solutions to provide, so little time.

  1. What can someone expect to gain from reading this book?

This book is different from all of the other breastfeeding books out there because it doesn’t spend hundreds of pages medically explaining the mechanical “how” of breastfeeding. This book is where the rubber meets the road (er, the nipple meets the mouth) for breastfeeding: how to own this booby thang through all the hiccups (figurative and literal).

It will shore you up with everything you need from what to say to the ignorant asshole who comments on your breastfeeding Facebook photo that “Since you can breastfeed in public, can I have sex in public?” to answering the question, “Does night nursing cause cavities?” to how to gently end your breastfeeding journey.

  1. What do you want people to know about this book?

I want people to know that you can do this. You can feed your little one healthfully in a way that leaves you confidently connected. And this book can help you do it.
