A Review of Momzelle Breastfeeding Apparel

I love yoga pants and shelf bra tops, don’t get me wrong. But as I once again move out of the newborn days I find myself starting to dig out my nicer pre-pregnancy clothes. I don the expensive tops and stylish dresses and I am transported to the days when I spent an hour on my hair and makeup, slid up the thigh high stocking and slipped on my platform heels. I’m slapped back to reality by the crying and tugging at my feet. I pick up my beautiful baby boy and reach up to pull my top down to nurse him. *tugs on shirt* “oh yeah, I can’t nurse in this.”

So what’s a gal who has been breastfeeding for nearly 4 years with no end in sight supposed to do? I’m not going to buy a new wardrobe. Those clothes will be used again. Someday. Someday sooner than I want to think about, despite all the struggles and stress and days feeling touched-out, soon these boys will no longer be nursing, they won’t be touching me all day, they won’t need me in the same way they need me now. And then I imagine I will put on my stylish clothes again, do my hair and put on my high heels. I’ll look up in the mirror at my wet puffy eyes as I cry my way through the next life transition. But, damn, I’ll look good!

I don’t want to wait until the sad day to look put together. It’s worth it to me to purchase some pieces of nursing apparel. But let’s face it, the majority of nursing clothes out there are either overpriced or complete garbage. It’s just the truth. I remember when I had my first son I bought a few tops from a large retailer’s nursing section. They were terrible. They were too big, formless, cheap and ugly. That is when I became the shelf bra top poster child. I’m over it. I want some fashionable pieces in my wardrobe too.

Momzelle is one of the very few places that sells stylish, quality and affordable nursing wear. I honestly believe I will wear these pieces when I am no longer nursing. I like being able to wear a stylish dress that was designed for nursing since this is what I am doing all the time. I don’t want to tug at my clothes anymore and I don’t want to dress down because I don’t have anything more formal than tanks and mom jeans.

I picked the LILY Nursing Dress. It is a cotton spandex mix making it flattering and comfortable. The crisscross opening in the front makes accessing the breast easy. There is no fumbling around to dig out the boob and no lumps of the material underneath. The stylish design makes it look like any other fashionable piece of clothing. I would wear this dress even when breastfeeding is over. It also offers coverage all around the breast if that is what you prefer. I love it!
